History Under Review: The Black Panther Party

The Black Panther Party is a significant part of the American Civil Rights Movement and African-American culture. However, it is rarely mentioned in high school history textbooks. Despite the lack of education on the topic, many academic resources analyze the party. The first resource I will be using for my paper is the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. The article explains how the party began and its founders. There is a documentary linked in the article that discusses the party in depth. Then the article talks about things the party did to help the Black community. It mainly examines the food programs the party had made for the community. The article is a brief overview of the Black Panther Party's origins and how it served the community. I would recommend the resource to my classmates if they were searching for a crash course on the history of the Black Panther Party. However, if they are looking for more in depth information on the topic, I would not suggest this article.
